Kaspersky gathers Malaysian educators to discuss cybersecurity, education & AI
The advent of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has brought to the fore immense global discussions on its impact on education, from how it shapes the learning landscape to how stakeholders can ensure a safe digital environment.
At its annual Academic Partners’ Conference dubbed, “SecureEd: Navigating the AI Frontier in Cybersecurity (and) Education,” Kaspersky Academy took the discussion to Kuala Lumpur in July, gathering experts to exchange views on the theme, explore innovative solutions, and identify ways to collaborate among various stakeholders.
Of the many issues raised during the conference, one key topic emerged: the rising importance of critical thinking skills in this age of AI.
The experts underscored how "human critical thinking" is necessary to:
-
Harness the power of AI to transform education and make it more accessible and equitable;
-
Complement the hard skills of cybersecurity professionals in evaluating complex situations and making informed decisions;
-
Address ethical challenges surrounding AI and ensure that the technology is used responsibly.
“Education necessitates the integration of technical AI competencies with essential soft skills, ensuring students are well-prepared to navigate the technological and societal complexities of the future,” stated Dr. Nur Azaliah Abu Bakar, Associate Professor at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and a conference panellist.
