Kaspersky Lab has held regional contests of the Secur'IT Cup international competition

Kaspersky Lab has held regional contests of the Secur'IT Cup international competition in Russia&CIS, as well as in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META region) and the Asia-Pacific region (APAC region)

This year, participants of the Secur’IT Cup 2023 were challenged to come up with their own researches and projects to help solve cybersecurity issues in the following areas:  

  • Gaming&Geeks: this track accepts projects for the development of the gaming universe, including innovative solutions not only to neutralize possible cyber threats, but also to improve the gaming and user experience;

  • FinTech: this track is for projects that can help improve people's well-being and reliably protect their money from cyber-attacks;

  • Tracking&Security of people and things: in this track, projects are being taken to ensure data protection and their legitimate tracking and collection;

  • Family care: in this track it is proposed to develop projects in the field of protection of the older generation or pets. In the first case, the functionality may be related to Internet security, health monitoring and any other problems relevant to the elderly, in the second - to safety, health, saving time for owners, care and other aspects related to pets or stray animals.

More than 500 applications were received from students from more than 20 countries.

The winners of the regional contests are:

  • Russia&CIS - team Net.Resources, its only participant Maxim Boyko, a student of Ulyanovsk State Technical University with his project "PeTTly Smart Ecosystem for pets" as part of the track "Family care";

  • META – team apt-7, members Oluwatimileyin Adeyemi and Nnamdi Philip Okonkwo, with their project "Voice Guardian"; as part of the track " Tracking&Security of people and things ", aimed at protecting people and especially children from kidnapping;

  • APAC - NA team, its only participant Ananya K, with her project "Digital Microchip for Pet Security" as part of the track "Family care".

The winners of the local contests received cash prizes and the opportunity to compete for the main prize — 10 thousand US dollars — with participants from all over the world in the final, which will be held online on December 13, and 2d and 3d places received merch and online training from Kaspersky Lab.
