Winners of Secur'IT Cup Madrid announced at UPM

Spanish round of Secur’IT Cup 2019 was based at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid — Kaspersky academic partner in Iberia region. The event was organized with huge support of.

The whole activity started at 10 am with a lecture “A day in a researcher life” by Daniel Creus, Senior Security Researcher, GReAT European Research Center, Kaspersky. He made a broad overview on what cybersecurity researchers do on a typical day of research/hunting and also highlighted current threat landscape.

After the coffee-break, competition participants started their pitches, and in 2 hours the judges had some hard time discussing the possible winners. Finally, Esperanza Zamora Beamud together with her teammate Lucas María Tomé Laverón were named the winners of Secur’IT Cup Madrid round. The team will receive: 1500$ grant for Proof-of-Concept development; trip to the final event in Lisbon; a mentor session with Kaspersky experts to improve their project and free access to Kaspersky Cybersecurity Certification.

All the cup finalists will go on a trip to Lisbon on 4th — 5th December for the final event at Kaspersky.Academy Partners Summit, where the winner will be determined, who will receive the prize of $10,000, the second-place winner will go to the world’s biggest cybersecurity event, Kaspersky Security Analysts’ Summit 2020, and the third runner-up wins a trip to a local cybersecurity conference.
