CyberDays roadshow – Iberia

CyberDays — one of the key events by Kaspersky.Academy is a set of free meetings that are offered to universities so that their students can deepen in various aspects of information security at the hands of great experts in the world of cybersecurity.

In April and May there was a big roadshow of Kaspersky.Academy in the Iberia region. We held a series of 5 events and had meetings with 7 universities in Spain and Portugal.

Alfonso Ramirez, general director of Kaspersky Lab Iberia, “We live in an era of great discoveries in the field of information technology. However, cybercrime also makes great progress. It is vital to know how to face the numerous threats posed, to be able to protect ourselves and to take advantage of the full potential of young minds to counterattack. This last task is particularly pressing given the relative scarcity of cyber experts in general. The goal of Kaspersky.Academy is to support the educational community to facilitate the education of the next generation of cyber experts because without them our mission to make the world a safer place is impossible.”

In Spain, a first session held at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) during the month of April, was followed up with Cyber Days on Monday, May 20 and held in collaboration with the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and on Tuesday May 21 — another in collaboration with the University of Girona (UDG).

Later, on May, 22 at University Nova de Lisboa we’ve held a CyberDay for members of Núcleo de Informática da FCT/UNL. And the last event during this workshop was held at ISTAR-IUL for a mixed group of participants — students, teachers, researchers, professionals, and others. Most of the students were from ISTAR-IUL, but the registration was also opened to other universities.
